Chapter 10 gasped.
"No--"
Luo Feng suddenly sat up abruptly, his chest heaving violently.
He was breathing heavily, the sound of his rapid breathing jarringly loud in the otherwise silent room. The cold air rushed into his lungs, causing a slight sting that brought Luo Feng back to his senses.
A throbbing pain shot through his head from the prolonged feeling of being weighed down by extra weight. He instinctively reached out and touched the cold, hard gaming helmet.
"call……"
He let out a heavy sigh, like a drowning person finally surfacing.
"So it was a game..." he murmured, his tense body slowly relaxing as he leaned back in his chair.
The game crashed at some point, and the game helmet was flashing a low battery red light. Luo Feng's vision was completely black, so much so that he didn't react immediately after leaving the game.
He reached out and took off the holographic helmet, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.
After realizing that his terrifying experience was just a horror game he had chosen to play, the despair and fear that had almost consumed him began to slowly dissipate.
"This game...it's so realistic..."
When he first saw the strange house in the wilderness, he was aware that this was a game. But later, after being dressed in that red dress, which should be called a "wedding dress," he completely forgot that he was playing a game.
—He seemed to have truly become that desperate bride who was forced into a wedding ceremony and stuffed alive into a black coffin.
Even after the lingering effects of the "nightmare" dissipated, when Luo Feng closed his eyes, those identical faces made of paper would still appear before him, and he could still hear the sharp and piercing voice of the paper wedding attendant dressed in purplish-red clothes.
He always felt as if he were still in that bright red wedding hall, surrounded, coerced, and forced by all the paper figures into that man-eating black coffin.
Luo Feng felt he would never forget the feeling of lying in that black coffin, unable to move:
Beneath him lay the cold, hard groom, his nostrils filled with the stench of rotting corpses and burning candles, the teeth-grinding scraping of the coffin planks as they slowly moved, and before him, he watched helplessly as darkness crept up over his body, engulfing him from below.
I'm so desperate...
Just thinking about it now, he can almost feel the suffocation he felt back then.
"Knock knock..."
"Knock knock..."
Even now, his brain clearly knows he is out of danger, but his heart is still pounding wildly, showing no signs of stabilizing.
Luo Feng relaxed his body, letting himself slump unceremoniously in the chair. The room was eerily quiet; it was as if only his heartbeat could be heard.
Luo Feng simply reached out and touched the water glass he had placed beside him before playing the game.
The water glass was still in its original place, and he reached out and grabbed it. The now-cold water slid down his throat, calming his unease somewhat.
Luo Feng decided to pour himself another glass of water!
But just as he raised his eyes to get up, he suddenly met a pair of dark eyes.
Those were a pair of pitch-black eyes, like two bottomless wells, absorbing all the light around them without reflecting a single ray.
Luo Feng felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up one by one.
Didn't he already leave the game?!
Why is there an extra pair of eyes in this room? Could it be that what happened before wasn't true—wait, in this room… He seemed to suddenly remember something and cautiously took a step towards the eyes.
Sure enough, not far from those eyes, Luo Feng saw the familiar lines of the medical pod hidden in the shadows.
That's right...
Luo Feng let out a long breath. He had just realized that he wasn't the only one in the room.
However, the other person had been unconscious for the past few days, and with the medical pod being sealed off, no sound or breath could be leaked out, making his presence so faint that he didn't even realize there was another person in the room.
"You're finally awake..."
Luo Feng suppressed his wildly beating heart and pretended to be nonchalant as he spoke to Jiang Yi, "Don't be afraid, I am from the First Legion."
"We found you on a pirate ship. But don't worry, all the pirates on that ship are dead."
"Do you remember what happened on that spaceship?"
Jiang Yi didn't speak, but lay motionless in the medical pod, watching him.
"Oh, look at me!" Luo Feng slapped his forehead. "I forgot you've been unconscious for several days."
"Wait here, I'll go get the doctor right now!"
He hurriedly turned and left the room where the medical pod was located.
The cold wind from outside seeped into his clothes, and Luo Feng shivered. He then realized that his clothes were soaked with cold sweat and stuck stickily to his back.
"The aftereffects of that game... seem really strong," he muttered to himself as he found the team doctor.
"Hey, Vice Regiment Commander!" The team doctor raised his hand to greet him, but his tone changed abruptly after seeing Luo Feng's expression: "Why do you look so pale?"
"Has his mental strength reached its limit again?" He immediately took out the instrument to check Luo Feng.
Luo Feng waved his hand, "No, I don't feel uncomfortable." His face looked pale... purely from being frightened by the game earlier. But this reason... was a bit difficult to say.
So, he casually changed the subject: "I came to find you because the survivor on that space pirate ship has woken up."
"Oh, I see..." The team doctor nodded while putting the mental strength testing device on Luo Feng. "Vice-Captain, you don't need to move. The mental strength test will be quick. I'll go over after I'm done with yours."
"Honestly, you're already in so much pain and your face is pale, why are you still stubbornly refusing to come for treatment? This time, nothing you say will work, I'm going to send your mental energy level to the boss—hiss!"
"What's wrong?"
Seeing the team doctor suddenly gasp for breath halfway through his sentence, Luo Feng curiously leaned closer. "What did you see? Why are you so surprised? Is my stat really that high—hiss!"
He also gasped sharply.
