Chapter 23. Special Envoy of Judgment Han Naixi, Unruly Wild Bird, "For the Gods!"
Chapter 23. Special Envoy of Judgment Han Naixi, Unruly Wild Bird, "For the Gods!"
Tian Sha Xing felt he had to apologize to Green.
After witnessing everything Green did in the illusion, Tian Sha Xing felt inferior.
The layout is small.
"It's because my vision was too narrow," Tian Sha Xing sighed, looking at Green.
"So it turns out your vision from the very beginning wasn't limited to just a melon patch, but to the entire scorched earth! To help the people of the scorched earth, who have suffered so much, achieve a better life and have smiles on their faces—that's probably what that adventurer senior really wanted to do back then."
Furthermore, the way windmills gather and transmit magic is something I couldn't even imagine, no matter how hard I tried. I'm no match for you, Grin.
Green was still a little dazed as he returned to reality.
What are you thinking?
Being praised by such a highly respected senior figure left Green somewhat speechless.
Others may not know, but his own family knows their own affairs; he is not that kind-hearted.
Everything he did was to find Alice.
If he had known that it was just an illusion, he would have only brought the old farmer's melon field back to life.
As if seeing through Green's thoughts, this nearly one-hundred-year-old top-tier Sun Realm transcendent being smiled:
"As the brave man once said, a gentleman judges by actions, not intentions. Regardless of what you think in your heart, at least in my eyes, you have indeed brought benefits to the people of this scorched land, and that is enough."
"Thank you for the compliment, Senior Heavenly Killer Star." Green was unusually a little embarrassed.
Tian Sha Xing shook his head slightly and asked, "The girl you were searching for all over the world with missing person notices at the end of the illusion must be very important to you, right?"
Green nodded. "Yes, I have reasons why I must find her."
Tian Sha Xing was even more satisfied. "Not bad. Even though you have acquired countless riches in the illusion, you still have such friendship. You deserve praise."
Many people in this world forget their original intentions after gaining wealth and power, and the same is true of my companions who adventured with me back then.
I originally intended to test whether, after acquiring immense wealth and standing at the pinnacle of power and transcendence, you could still refrain from evil and depravity, and maintain your integrity. It would be like obtaining a hero's treasure, ascending to heaven in a single day…
Looking back now, it wasn't necessary.
Tian Sha Xing said seriously:
"Now that you have obtained the Hero's Treasure, you will surely live up to the name of a hero. If all the tens of millions of people in my Tera were like you, I believe that even without heroes, we could still win in the war against demons, like an inexhaustible source of firewood, everlasting and everlasting."
The Raven Doctor, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly asked Green:
"Young man, are you interested in joining the Tribunal?"
"Um?"
Not only Green, but everyone except for Tian Sha Xing was stunned.
The Raven Doctor suddenly asked what he meant by that.
The casualness was as if anyone could join the tribunal at will.
What, do you have connections?
impossible!
Philip asked doubtfully, "How could such a despicable person have any connection with the tribunal?"
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
Moreover, it's important to know that the process of joining the Tribunal is very complicated. It involves reviewing family background, past experience, height and weight, and extraordinary talent, as well as taking written tests and interviews step by step before one can finally join the Tribunal.
Even for a noblewoman like Mabel, unless she has extremely high connections, she still has to go through all the necessary procedures.
This cumbersome process, while ensuring that most of those selected were reliable, also resulted in a perennial shortage of judges; the entire Terrera court was estimated to have only around five hundred judges.
Keep in mind that the North alone has billions of people.
Green thought for a moment, and seeing that the Raven Doctor didn't seem to be joking, he answered seriously:
"I do want to join the tribunal."
The Cheshire Cat mentioned two ways to enter the Abyss. One was to find the headmaster of the Nienia Magic Academy, which had a door leading to the Abyss.
But Green didn't know the principal. He had been in this other world for two years and had turned 20. He probably had long passed their admission requirements, so it was probably impossible for him to become a student at the academy.
Being a cleaner or a teacher would be more realistic.
The second option is to join the Tribunal, which also has a way to reach the Abyss.
Going to Nijenia to apply for a job as a teacher or cleaner is feasible, but now that Dr. Raven has asked him if he wants to join the Tribunal, can he really turn to something far away?
Upon receiving Green's reply, the Raven Doctor nodded:
"Okay, I'll go back and report after you get the Hero's Treasure. I'll let you know the location and time of the interview and written test separately. Don't worry, I like you a lot. Even if you don't pass, I'll find a way to help you pass the interview and written test."
Green's lips twitched. He glanced at the righteous and vengeful Heavenly Killer Star and said:
"Dr. Raven, you might be serious, but I haven't even taken the exam yet. Is it really okay to openly discuss cheating like this?"
Tian Sha Xing said calmly, "I believe you have the strength to pass the test without difficulty. Just try to avoid associating with Han Nai tide in the future."
The Raven Doctor waved his hand. "Heh, you old man, you've got a pretty itchy mouth."
She said to Green:
"Don't be afraid, I have connections."
Oh, you've accidentally wandered into the imperial palace. Well, that's alright then.
Mabel pondered for a moment, then ran excitedly to the Raven Doctor's side, gently massaging and rubbing her shoulders, and whispered:
"I vaguely heard Dad mention before that, Sister Han, you were framed by those treacherous people and forced to drop out of school, after which you joined another force—was it the Tribunal?"
The Raven Doctor nodded. "That's right. After I was framed by those mediocre people in Nienia, I was personally recruited by the Minister of the Inspectorate of the Tribunal."
Philip clicked his tongue in astonishment:
"How is that possible! Is the Minister of the Inspection Department blind? Why would he personally recruit you?"
"Heh, that's because I'm a genius!" Dr. Raven said. "A genius shines no matter where he is, but a mediocre person like you is different. Even if you roll into a cesspool, no one will care."
"I came to St. Petersburg because I am the Tribunal's special envoy to St. Petersburg, although I usually spend most of my time developing pharmaceuticals and don't have much time to monitor St. Petersburg."
Philip remained silent.
As mayor, he had indeed received a notification a few years ago that a special envoy from the tribunal would be stationed in St. Petersburg for an extended period.
When the appointed time arrived, he had already prepared the welcoming ceremony, but the special envoy was nowhere to be seen.
Several years passed without incident, and Philip assumed that the envoy had canceled his trip to St. Petersburg at the last minute or that the intelligence from above was incorrect, so he did not pursue the matter further.
"So it turns out you're the disgrace of this college, the only district tyrant in the medical department!" Philip sighed.
He thought to himself that the head of the Tribunal's Inspection Department was truly blind.
"I see," Mabel said obediently. "Then, Sister Han, do you think I have the potential to join the Tribunal? I've long wanted to use my identity as a tribunalist to rob the nobles... uh, I mean, to rob the rich and help the poor, and punish the wicked and promote good!"
The Raven Doctor, enjoying Mabel's massage, squinted and hummed softly.
"Hmm, not bad. I think you have the makings of an adjudicator. I'll talk to the higher-ups later, and you and Green will take the exam together. If you fail, I'll let you cheat together."
"Hahaha, thank you so much, Sister Han! You're the best! From now on, you're my big sister!"
Seeing the two men laughing and conspiring together, Philip thought to himself that the tribunal was probably doomed.
Because we are about to welcome the only two true maggots besides Han Naixi, Mabel.
The Raven Doctor said:
"By the way, Green, since you and Mabel will be joining my Tribunal soon, we'll be colleagues. I'll probably be your boss then, so don't call me Dr. Raven anymore, it'll be too formal. Just call me Han Naixi or Sister Han."
Green opened his mouth, then said helplessly, "Sister Han?"
"Hey, you're so good." Han Naixi said, as if coaxing a child.
"Since you two have been so well-behaved, I've developed a new drug that you two can try immediately."
Green stiffened and shook his head, saying, "Sister Han, there's really no need for that. Your medicine is precious, and I'm not qualified to be a test subject."
Having said that, he quickly pulled the Bull-Slayer Knight and Mabel up to the top of the clock tower.
The bull-slaughtering knight straightened his expression. Although he wasn't part of the treasure, being a witness was still of great significance.
The moment has finally arrived.
…………
Just as Green and his friends reached the top of the tower.
When the group emerged from the illusion, it was already night.
At this moment, St. Petersburg's nightlife is just beginning. Workers, exhausted from a long day, drag their weary bodies home to take a hot bath and rest, while adventurers share their day's experiences in taverns.
Some boasted shamelessly, only to be quickly exposed by their friends, causing a burst of laughter in the tavern.
The brightly lit, bustling boulevard of singers was also crowded with people. Those willing to spend money went to the Heaven on Earth to "enjoy operas," while others went to the casinos and lost their entire fortunes.
The capitalist factories that constantly belched black smoke in the suburbs and outskirts of the city obscured the once beautiful stars in the sky above St. Petersburg.
Therefore, the people of St. Petersburg have long lost the habit of looking up at the stars.
No one noticed that a wild and unruly humanoid bird flew across the sky above the city of St. Petersburg.
This untamed humanoid bird, in the ballads of fairy tales, foreshadows an impending catastrophe.
St. Petersburg is nestled between mountains and water.
The entire city is backed by the highest mountain in the south, hence St. Petersburg is also known as the "highest city in the world".
High up on the mountain, a magic airship manufacturing factory was brightly lit, just like any other day, so no one paid any attention to it.
Since one brave soul after another brought strange technologies and ideas, many novel products have been launched in Telera.
This magical airship is one of them. It was developed under the leadership of mages who graduated from the academy. Although the technology is not yet mature, it has already reached the level of commercial use.
The young adventurer's name was Frank.
A few days ago, Frank followed the instructions of the mysterious middle-aged man and went to great lengths to enter the inner city, only to find that Ward Manor, which the man had mentioned, was deserted, filled only with corpses. He was terrified and reported the incident to the police.
The promises the middle-aged man made to him vanished, and because of his feud with the dock supervisor, Frank no longer wanted to return to work at the dock.
Because he didn't want to starve to death because he couldn't repay his loan, he started looking for jobs frantically.
Fortunately, the manufacturer of this magic airship was willing to give him a chance to work there.
I remember when he first started working at the factory, his supervisor introduced him to me:
"What will be produced here is one of the greatest inventions of this century: the magic airship."
"In the past, people traveled to various countries and regions by chocobos or magical trains, which often took ten days to half a month to reach their destination."
"But once this magic airship is unveiled, things will be completely different. It can transport over three hundred people from the southern to the northern part of the empire in just half a day! Although there are some uncontrollable factors involved, it's absolutely safe!"
The supervisor explained to workers like Frank:
"Our boss has decided to take this airship to St. Petersburg for an exhibition in two days to promote this great invention. At least half of the city's population will be there to see it."
"Your next task is to fully cooperate with the magician above and move every piece of the airship's materials to its designated location. There can be absolutely no mistakes!"
Frank realized that even though the airship technology was not yet mature, these greedy capitalists couldn't wait to bring it out and promote it wildly.
But what does this have to do with him?
He has been diligently doing his job these past few days.
The airship was enormous, requiring a vast amount of materials to be moved. Even with only the final loading step remaining, it took several thousand workers and numerous mages several days to complete.
With the airship exhibition just around the corner, the supervisor offered a hefty overtime pay in order to meet the deadline!
Those who work overtime until the last minute will receive a £5 bonus!
Five gold pounds! A full five gold pounds! That's two years' worth of income for dockworkers! And that's not even that much!
Frank was so exhausted from working overtime that he collapsed in the storage area after receiving his pay.
Frank didn't know how much time had passed before he finally woke up.
"Gentlemen, this is our destination for this operation. Let's begin!"
Frank had just woken up in the storage area when he heard the sound.
Looking up towards the center of the factory, one could see a large group of people dressed in black robes opening the doors of the airship. They were carrying wooden buckets, the contents of which were unknown, onto the airship one bucket after another.
Their eyes burned with intensity, unwavering determination, and fervor, as they murmured:
"For the sake of the divine messenger!"
"For the sake of the gods!"
The priest looked at his men and nodded in satisfaction.
"very good!"
Standing beside the priest was another of the priest's right-hand men.
This man wasn't wearing a black robe; his clothes were tattered and ragged, making him look like a beggar. Yet, he was carrying a bundle, making him appear like a merchant.
Anyone familiar with the history of Therla would immediately recognize them as the merchants who had been slaughtered for the rumor that they brought calamity—
A wandering merchant.
He was the one who had previously informed Ivan Green that he might be in the abandoned factory.
Unfortunately, he had important matters to attend to at the time and was unable to take action himself, which allowed Green to escape unscathed.
He cackled grotesquely, "Now that I've retrieved the Madfire, the Iron Cross, aided by it, is invincible! Tomorrow, the gods will surely descend upon the world!"
The priest nodded and said, "I hope so."
……
These guys obviously don't seem like good people.
Frank felt his breathing become heavy, and he prayed that they wouldn't find him.
Frank looked away and thought about quietly leaving the factory to tell the police what had happened.
As soon as he turned around, a cold voice exploded in Frank's ears.
"Young friend, where are you headed?"
An old man dressed in a black robe, with a face like a withered tree, asked expressionlessly.
