Chapter 6, The Initial Starter 3
Chapter 6, The Initial Starter 3
In the company corridor, Cheng Chen was scrutinized by countless curious glances. Those glances contained curiosity and scrutiny, but were not offensive.
The number of employees at Yinfu Entertainment is actually not large, at least relative to this hundred-meter-tall skyscraper, making it seem rather spacious. The vast majority of the company's interior space is dedicated to facilities specifically designed for magical girls.
"This is a flight training ground."
As Congcong walked, he introduced the area and gestured for Cheng Chen to look inside a huge transparent glass curtain wall.
"New trainees joining the company will be here, receiving professional guidance to learn how to fly. This includes essential skills such as rapid obstacle avoidance, extreme acceleration, and rapid turnaround."
Beyond the curtain wall is a towering, oval-shaped stadium embedded indoors.
Dozens of glowing rings floated in mid-air, arranged at varying heights, like levels in a flight racing game.
Several magical girls were flying and weaving through the arena, their figures leaving faint trails of light. Guiding them were several ordinary office ladies who looked similar in appearance to Congcong.
Continuing forward, we soon came to a completely enclosed area, separated by thick special glass, which looked like a huge aquarium.
"This is a combat training ground where instructors will lead trainees in combat simulations."
Further on, the facilities were dazzling. Gym, dance studio, magic testing room... each room with its own unique function broadened Cheng Chen's horizons.
It's less like an entertainment company and more like stepping into a magical girl academy.
However, the impact of the partner's departure has not yet subsided, and the huge tower appears empty everywhere.
During the rest stop, Cheng Chen looked at the city view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows and casually asked his assistant beside him:
"Were you a magical girl before?"
Congcong smiled but didn't answer directly. "The vast majority of employees in the company are magical girls who lost their magic after 'graduating'."
"Oh? What was your nickname before?"
Cheng Chen became curious.
Congcong looks to be about the same age as him; he might have been his defeated opponent back then.
Congcong smiled politely and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Cheng, but according to company regulations, this must be kept confidential. In the past, when we fought against the demons, we all made enemies to some extent. The demons' power doesn't disappear with age, and there are still quite a few demons active in Yincheng."
"Therefore, to avoid any accidents, we cannot reveal the nickname we used when we were magical girls."
"I understand."
Cheng Chen nodded. Two more beautiful young office ladies, each carrying a folder, brushed past him.
The curious and surprised glances were impossible to hide; before they had even gone far, they huddled together and started whispering and discussing it.
As expected of a former magical girl gathering place, the employees of this company are shockingly good-looking, almost all of them are beauties in the truest sense.
He continued the tour with Congcong, and casually asked, "Are there only women in the company?"
Congcong shook his head and pressed the elevator button: "There are a very small number of male employees, but they are mostly demons."
"Demon?"
"Um."
The assistant nodded and explained, "President Jiang said that not all demons are bad people. They are just like us; they are easily led astray because they suddenly gained unimaginable power."
"Even those demons who haven't done anything evil will receive job offers from President Jiang, who will invite them to join the company."
Congcong paused slightly, then lowered his voice somewhat embarrassed: "When company trainees officially debut, they need some 'dramatic conflicts' to generate hype and publicity... but there aren't actually that many active and suitable 'wild demons' from the outside world."
Got it, you're playing the villain, right?
They recruited some demon extras, and when a new magical girl idol needed to debut, they sent them out to play villains. Then, the newcomer defeated them all in one fell swoop, and their fame naturally spread.
Cheng Chen nodded admiringly.
After the tour, he asked, "Which idols will I be responsible for from now on?"
"President Jiang didn't tell me about this. Perhaps she will explain it to you personally later." Congcong shook her head.
She led him to the top floor of the company building, to the CEO's office. "Let me show you your future office, Mr. Cheng."
"Take me to see your CEO Jiang first," Cheng Chen refused.
The assistant nodded crisply, "Okay."
"This is troublesome."
Cheng Chen had a general idea in mind, but the news of him being chosen as an idol producer did not spread within Yinfu Entertainment.
The fact that so many magical girls work at the company and that the former Demon King was invited to be a producer will likely cause a huge uproar.
Jiang Fei practically monopolized the entire top floor.
The decoration and layout of this floor, from the corridor to the rooms, were extremely sophisticated. Cheng Chen followed Cong Cong around two corners before finally seeing the office area.
As they entered, a group of photographers and assistants escorted a beautiful, radiant long-haired woman.
"Miss Songlan."
Congcong greeted him politely and stepped aside to make way for him.
The girl had a high ponytail of gradient pink tied behind her baseball cap, and she wore a short red jacket that looked like a leaping flame. Even with the magic light suppressed, it was still dazzling.
Upon hearing the greeting, a pair of emerald green eyes peeked out from under the brim of the hat. He then gave a soft "hmm" and walked away with his hands in his pockets.
Cheng Chen and Song Lan exchanged a glance, and Song Lan smiled politely before brushing past each other.
After the group had walked a distance, Cheng Chen asked, "Is she the magical girl Matsuri?"
"That's right. Does Mr. Cheng also know Miss Songlan?" Congcong replied.
"The top idol of Yinfu Entertainment, of course I've heard of him," Cheng Chen smiled, "but he's not what I imagined."
"As you imagine?"
"I originally thought she would be gentle and sweet, but I didn't expect her to be so unique."
"Miss Songlan has a very keen sense of perception; perhaps she has already heard your assessment," Congcong said half-jokingly, as he stepped forward and knocked on the door of the president's office. "Miss Songlan's producer is President Jiang himself, and she is also a role model for all the trainees in the company."
"Please come in."
Congcong pushed open the door and stepped aside: "President Jiang, President Cheng has arrived."
"You got here pretty quickly. How was it?"
Jiang Fei sat behind a large desk with her legs crossed, wearing thin gold-rimmed glasses, looking at the computer.
Cheng Chen entered the room and found that in addition to the sophisticated female CEO, there were three other girls in the room.
One of them was sitting upright on the sofa in front of the desk.
She wore a loose-fitting blue and white color-blocked sports jacket over a pale yellow T-shirt. Her carefully braided double braids cascaded down her chest, adorned with a black bow in her hair. Her fair, rosy face showed a slight hint of nervousness, and her amber eyes subtly observed her.
When their eyes met, she hurriedly lowered her head slightly and greeted him, "Hello, I'm Lu Baishu."
The other person stood elegantly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
The collar of her dark green uniform jacket was slightly open, subtly revealing her full curves. Black tights encased her blue plaid skirt, outlining her long, shapely legs. Her chestnut hair was casually pulled back, and her deep brown eyes were filled with a gentle smile.
"Hello producer, my name is Gui Lingtan, it's a pleasure to meet you."
These two girls look like ordinary girls, no different from anyone else.
Only the last "outlier" wore an intricately patterned black magical girl dress, with pale purple hair decorated with black lace roses at the hairline. Sheer gloves covered her slender, fair fingers, and pale purple magical light wrapped around her wrists like a bracelet.
She was slamming her hand on Jiang Fei's table.
"I disagree! Why should I listen to a demon?"
Jiang Fei clasped her hands together, rested her chin on them, and said in a deep voice, "Signing the contract means that you have accepted all the terms. You were sent to the company because you were marked as 'unqualified' by the association. You have already been complained about six times for being disrespectful and insubordinate. This is the last time the company will replace your producer, and it is also an ultimatum."
"What will happen if I disobey?"
The black magical girl sneered.
"According to company regulations, you are still considered 'unqualified'. If this continues, there's a high chance you'll be forced to participate in the witch trial. Cooperating with the new producer will give you a better chance of survival."
"Him!"
She suddenly raised her wand, and a low hum filled the air. A dazzling purple-black cross-shaped spear materialized in the air, and with a piercing shriek that tore through the air, it shot fiercely toward Cheng Chen.
boom!
Cheng Chen merely tilted his head slightly, and the light spear grazed his cheek before smashing a huge hole in the wall behind him, scattering debris everywhere.
The black-clad magical girl seemed still not satisfied, and light once again gathered at the tip of her wand. But the moment she looked up, she met a pair of calm and indifferent eyes.
In that instant, it felt as if I were being watched by some terrifying beast from ancient times.
She froze for a moment, standing there motionless, but quickly came to her senses.
Shame and fear swirled within her. She gripped her wand tightly, clenching her teeth, and uttered each word with a sharp edge: "Why?!"
After saying that, she shoved Cheng Chen's shoulder away and stormed out of the office, not even leaving a word of self-introduction until she disappeared through the door.
"well……"
Jiang Fei sighed helplessly, seemingly used to this kind of scene, while the other two girls also ignored it.
Congcong glanced apologetically at Cheng Chen, then turned to contact the administrative department to repair the wall.
Cheng Chen patted the dust off his clothes, slowly walked to his desk, and sat down on the edge of the desk.
"So, these three are the trainees I'll be responsible for from now on?"
He looked down at Jiang Fei and smiled at Gui Lingtan beside him.
Jiang Fei leaned forward on the table, completely lacking the demeanor of a CEO: "That's right, I'm going to hand these three kids over to you. You'll be their idol producer and take full responsibility for their upbringing."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Chen glanced around the office.
The hole left by the black magical girl was still emitting white smoke; Lu Baishu on the sofa had his hands clasped between his knees, his head almost completely buried in his collar; Gui Lingtan by the French window walked over to him and generously extended her fair, white hand.
The chestnut-haired girl, seemingly representing the three, flashed a sweet and charming smile.
"Producer, let's all work together to save the company from its current predicament."
